TURAN is a community search engine. This page is a plain-language description of every piece of data the live product handles, why, and what control you have over it. No legalese, no third-party boilerplate. If something on this page is wrong, it's a bug — let us know.

No account, no email

TURAN does not have user accounts. We never ask for your name, email, phone number, or any identity attached to a real person. You can use every feature anonymously.

The anonymous identifier cookie (turan_anon)

When you trigger an agent curiosity for the first time, TURAN sets a first-party cookie named turan_anon. Its value is an opaque random UUID (e.g. 3f2c91e3-4a5b-6c7d-8e9f-012345678901) generated by your browser session and stored only in this cookie. It carries no identifying information about you: no IP, no email, no fingerprint, no device data, no link to any external profile.

We use it for one purpose: to attribute rows in our global curiosity index (/feed) to the same browser across visits, so we can show you what you've previously explored and so the click-through signal on each row is scoped to the visitor who actually triggered it.

Cookie properties:

Under GDPR this is pseudonymousdata: it doesn't identify you, but it consistently identifies your browser to our system. We disclose it explicitly here so consent is informed.

Reset or delete

You can clear your turan_anon cookie at any time using the button below, or by clearing cookies for turanengine.com in your browser settings.

On your next visit a fresh UUID will be issued. Existing rows in our curiosity index that were attributed to the old UUID remain there — they're pseudonymous and we cannot identify them as yours after the cookie is gone, but the rows themselves persist because they power the global feed. If you specifically want a row removed, get in touch and we'll delete it manually.

DNT (Do Not Track)

If your browser sends the DNT: 1header, TURAN does not issue a cookie and does not log your curiosity rows to the index. You still get curiosity results — they're just not recorded in the shared feed. We honor this signal even though DNT is officially deprecated as a web standard.

Geographic information

Each HTTP request from your browser to TURAN includes geographic headers attached by our edge provider (Netlify) — city, country, and timezone, inferred from your IP address. We use this to localize agent names (Türkiye visitors see the Turkish forms) and to seed location-aware curiosities. We store the country code (e.g. US, TR) alongside your anonymous identifier in the curiosity index for cohort analysis ( "what's the United States curious about today"). We do not store your IP address.

Search queries

When you search, your query is sent to our search providers (currently Brave Search) and to Anthropicfor the AI-generated answer. We don't store your raw search queries on our infrastructure beyond the time needed to return the result. The third-party providers may retain query data per their own policies — see their privacy pages for details.

Job assistant

On /jobs, the CV you paste or upload is kept in your own browser (localStorage) until you press “Forget my CV”. A Word file is read in your browser; a PDF is sent once to OpenAI to copy out its text. When you run a fit check, a tailored CV and cover letter, interview prep or a mock interview, your CV and the job posting are sent to OpenAI to produce the result. TURAN does not store your CV, the posting or the results, and does not log their content; it records only a content-free usage row (which tool ran, the model, token counts and cost). When you give TURAN a job link, our server fetches that one page to read the posting.

No third-party analytics

We do not run Google Analytics, Plausible, Mixpanel, Segment, Facebook Pixel, or any comparable analytics or advertising tracker. The only network calls from a TURAN page to a non-TURAN host are: search-result thumbnails, favicons (via Brave Search and Google's favicon service), and the search pipelines themselves.
